VHT at DevFest Surrey 2024: The Ethics of AI in Healthcare

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, our founder & CTO, Dean Shev, joined the speaker line-up at DevFest Surrey 2024. Google Developer Group (GDG) Surrey hosted the day under the theme "Responsible AI."

The event took place at the BCIT Burnaby campus. Developers, students and technology professionals came together for a full day of talks on building AI responsibly.

The session, "Ethics of AI in Healthcare," asked what it takes to bring AI into care in a way people can trust. That means protecting patient privacy, keeping health data secure, watching for bias in algorithms, and working within the rules that govern health information.

These questions sit at the heart of how we build VHT. Talking them through with a room full of builders is one of the best ways we know to test our own thinking and learn from the community.
