VHT Founder Dean Shev Wins Vancouver AI Data Storytelling Hackathon
We're proud to share that our founder & CTO, Dean Shev, was named a winner in Round 3 of the Vancouver AI Data Storytelling Hackathon, "BC's AI Story." The winners were announced at Vancouver AI Community Meetup #20 on August 27, 2025, at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre.
The Round 3 dataset collected the hopes and fears of about 1,000 British Columbians about AI. Instead of a dashboard, Dean Shev turned it into music: a 17-song album in which each song represents a person whose voice is in the data.
The album was presented on stage at the meetup, with a look at how it was made and an on-stage conversation with the host.
The project reflects something we care about at VHT. Data is only useful when it helps people feel understood, and good AI work starts with listening carefully to real people.
Thank you to the BC + AI Ecosystem team for running the hackathon series, to the judges, and to everyone who shared their stories in the survey.
